Close your eyes for a second and try to recall the sounds and sight of a ukulele. Where did you hear it?  Who was playing?  What was your response?  Now open your eyes and get ready to take in Jake Shimabukuro.  See him leap from stage to amplifier to monitor, arcing through the electric-charged air, his lithe body twisting with innovative energy.  You might think you’ve wandered into a rock concert.  Open your ears now and discover what the four strings and two octaves of the humble ukulele can summon forth.  Shimabukuro coaxes jazz riffs from his Hawaiian instrument one moment and then launches into extended passages reminiscent of rock ‘n’ roll’s amplified guitar.
